We provide painting courses using the landscape as inspiration throughout the season. Our mixed media and wildlife painting courses are particularly popular and can be booked at any convenient time for small groups. We also organise a number of regular courses throughout the year
Using the local landscape of the South Shropshire Hills as a subject for painting and drawing, our courses are suitable for novices and more experienced artists alike. You can spend a day or more under the expert tuition of Pat Evans, Phil Petford, Suzanne Starns, Susi Griffiths or Jackie Astbury.
In 2008 we will be able to offer a weekend on Still Life and Life Drawing. details will appear on our summer programme
We also offer the use of our facilities at weekends between April and the end of October for your individual use. We can suggest and arrange venues for you to paint/sketch.
Small groups are welcome at any time between April 1st and Oct 31st . Bring your own tutor or we can endeavour to book one for you.

Pat Evans has taught in adult education for several years. She trained and qualified as a draughtswoman and has painted professionally for 20 years. She exhibits regularly in the Welsh Borderland. Her preference is watercolour, photography and decorating pottery. She recently published a book of illustrations of Mary Webb country (Poetic Landscapes) which is available from Thresholds Centre.
Phil Petford, having trained at Wrexham College of Art, gaining a Diploma in Illustration and Graphic Design teaches in further education courses. He works in watercolour and oils, specialising in landscape and wildlife subjects in addition to producing landscape photographic cards.
Suzanne Starns qualified at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has worked as a freelance illustrator and in teaching up to A level in the UK and abroad. She has exhibited in the Welsh borderland in a variety of media.
Susi Griffiths Susi is currently Head of Designat Deansfield High School Wolverhampton and a member of Dudley Arts Society. She is an experienced tutor at all levels of ability and her enthusiasm instils all her students with confidence.
Jackie Astbury qualified at Birmingham College of Art. She has taught extensively including being a visiting lecturer at Art Colleges. She specialises in oils in an original, imaginative and visionary style. She has designed souvenir tea towels etc including those available from The Bog Visitor Centre Stiperstones near to where she lives. The local landscape features in her illustrations several books including the book of poetry ‘Into the Dark Country’ available from Thresholds Centre
During the season these and other local artists work is exhibited at Thresholds Centre.
